Meet Elis

Howdy! I’m Elis Henze – a Pisces sun/Leo moon/Taurus rising and your friendly neighborhood neuroqueer and liberation-focused trauma therapist. I am passionate about creating therapeutic relationships where folks feel safe and supported to explore all parts of themself. I believe that people are the experts of their own experience; I’m here to be a fellow traveler on the journey of it.

I love working with queer, trans, neurodivergent, and/or chronically ill folks as well as people with complex trauma and grief-related issues.

Since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated with the power of stories – written words, oral histories, beliefs about the self and others – and I bring this passion to my work by blending Narrative and Feminist approaches to therapy. Through reading, writing, and exploration of meaning-making and intersections of identity, I help folks take back the pen (figuratively, and sometimes literally) to create more empowered stories about themselves and their experiences. I also integrate somatic (body-based) and Internal Family Systems (parts work)) therapies for a holistic approach to trauma processing.

While I value active listening and validation, I consider myself an interactive clinician.

Prepare for questions that make you think about your thinking! I like to bring my humor, my curiosity, and my humanity in the therapy space so that people feel free to bring their whole selves, too. I’m also open to doing things differently, whether that’s integrating tarot, doing walk-and-talk therapy, or boiling complex concepts down to Actual Human Language. I truly believe that therapeutic healing should be a flexible and collaborative process.

Elis Outside of the Therapy Room:

When I’m not working, I can be found at my favorite spin studio, with my nose in a book, or cosplaying as a human jungle gym for my kids. I’m a fan of yoga, meals that take way too long to make, and solo musical theater performances in my car.
