Meet Amelia

Hello and welcome! I’m Amelia, a kitchen witch at heart and always tending my connection to nature and intuition.

My passion for counseling grew during a season of complex grief, when I was searching for support and kept running into systems that treated grief as something neat, linear, and tame – none of which matched my lived reality. I now strive to create a soft, grounded space where folks can explore the complexities of being human without being pathologized by systems that prioritize productivity, compliance, and linear healing over nuance and care.

My Approach to Therapy

I read once that many neurotypical spaces prioritize control and regulation over aliveness and authentic expression, making them boring AF. This sentiment has shaped how I approach my work as a therapist.

My hope is to create a therapy space where folks can begin taking small, meaningful risks in self-expression, rather than feeling constrained by the shame and perfectionism our systems so often uphold. Together, we can unpack the societal, patriarchal, colonial, familial, and generational narratives that contribute to patterns of shame and avoidance.

Through an integrated, compassion-focused lens, I believe we can gently unburden shame and move toward a way of being that feels more intuitive, expansive, and free.

Areas of Focus & Modalities

This approach informs my work with folks navigating OCD, anxiety disorders, neurodivergence, identity exploration, grief, religious and complex trauma, and life transitions. I aim to offer an authentic, collaborative, and non-pathologizing therapy space grounded in anti-oppressive and liberatory frameworks that honor the expertise my clients bring. Drawing from behavioral therapies (including ACT, DBT, and Exposure Therapy), alongside mindfulness practices and parts work, I support growth in ways that are both practical and deeply meaningful.

What I Ask of My Clients

I work best with individuals who are self-motivated and are looking to challenge these beliefs and stories with continued work outside of the therapy session. While I value the relationships built with my clients, I’m mindful that our time together is limited, and I see much of the work in clients’ lives unfolding outside of our sessions.

This might look like creating daily rituals to cultivate self-compassion, participating in supportive communities that foster healing, practicing non-avoidance in various ways, playing in nature, or exploring and taking part in activism within your neighborhood. Please know that I would never ask you to engage in these practices without being willing to engage in them in my own daily life.

In the Therapy Room

On that note, I love when you bring in small little things you find exciting. Let’s talk about that leaf you found, the collage you made, the character you related to, and the animal you pet! Everything has fruit in the therapy room!

Amelia Outside of the Therapy Room:

When I’m not in the office you can find me enjoying nature, baking, or crafting. I love getting outside whether it’s by myself or with friends – hunting down a swimming hole on hot summer days is my absolute favorite (snacks are a MUST). I love a slower life with lots of time to enjoy my favorite people and favorite activities.
